Campus Chaplain Candidates Visit Augustana

The first of three finalists for Campus Chaplain will visit Augustana College Thursday. Pastor Emily Ewing from Des Moines will spend two days doing on-campus interviews and working with the worship planning team to design and lead a 45 minute worship service.

One of the finalists will replace Richard Priggie, who retired in the spring after serving the college for 21 years.

The other two candidates will visit the college next week, one on Monday and one on Thursday.

For the past year, Ewing has been the Social Justice Pastor at Trinity las Americas United Methodist Church in Des Moines and has served as chaplain resident at UnityPoint Health, also in Des Moines.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
