Blues Festival Canceled

The pandemic has claimed another local victim. Friday the Mississippi Valley Blues Sociey announced the cancelation of this summer's Blues Festival.

In a press release, the society says even though it found new dates for this year, it decided to cancel due to the potential for a second wave of infections.

It considered a one day event but figured fewer people would attend, and fewer vendors, and the costs would be nearly the same for performers.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
