BHC Chooses New President

Black Hawk College

The president of two colleges in Minnesota will be the next president of Black Hawk College. Monday afternoon, Black Hawk announced the board of trustees has selected Tim Wynes, from a field of four finalists.

Wynes is currently the president of both Dakota County Technical College and Inver Hills Community College in Minneapolis.

He'll replace Bettie Truitt who retired in December, and interim president John Erwin.

In April, all four finalists spent two days on the Black Hawk campuses meeting with students, staff, and local residents. The other finalists came from Illinois, Iowa, and Tennessee.

Wynes is at least somewhat familiar with the Quad Cities because his two children recently attended and graduated from Augustana College.

He's expected to start his new job by July lst.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
