The former superintendent of the Pleasant Valley schools did not stay retired for very long. On Monday night, the Bettendorf School Board appointed Jim Spelhaug to be Interim Superintendent.
He retired last June after leading the P-V district for 15 years, and he officially started in Bettendorf Tuesday. He'll serve through June when a new, permanent superintendent is expected to start working.
The Bettendorf board announced the names of two finalists in January, but there's been no update since their visits to the district last month.
