Bert Appointed District Court Judge

A lawyer in private practice will soon become a judge in eastern Iowa. On Monday, Governor Kim Reynolds appointed Jeffrey Bert of Bettendorf to fill an upcoming vacancy in the Seventh Judicial District.

Bert practices with the Brooks Law Firm in Davenport and Rock Island.

He will become a district court judge following the retirement of Judge Mary Howes.

Iowa's Seventh Judicial District includes Cedar, Clinton, Jackson, Muscatine, and Scott counties.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
