Bergendoff Biography

WVIK Staff

A key figure in the history of Augustana College is the subject of a new biography.

Former college president, Thomas Tredway, has just published a book about one of his predecessors, "Conrad Bergendoff's Faith and Work: A Swedish-American Lutheran 1895 to 1997."
On today's wvik news focus, Herb Trix reports.

("Conrad Bergendoff's Faith and Work: A Swedish-American Lutheran, 1895-1997." is co-published by the Augustana Historical Society and the Swedish-American Historical Society.)

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
