Ballpark Food for Carry Out

Even though the baseball season has been delayed by the pandemic, the Clinton Lumber Kings want to celebrate what would have been their home opener. So on Thursday some of the food available during games will be available for pickup at NelsonCorp Field.

Team General Manager Ted Tornow says he wanted to do something for the community.

"We've been pretty well known for our food at the ballpark. We can't really have people here at the stadium but like many other restaurants and food establishments in town, they're doing a lot of carryout, so we're going to try it."

The team had already received 50 orders by Wednesday afternoon. And Tornow says this might become a regular, Thursday night feature at the ballpark in Clinton, depending on how many orders they receive and how long the Midwest League season is delayed.

Orders can be called in or emailed, with pickup between 12 noon and 6 pm.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
