Augustana Response to Immigration Order

Augustana College

"Like our nation as a whole, Augustana is made better by the contributions of immigrants." That's the message to the college from President Steve Bahls following the Trump Administration's order on Friday suspending all immigration from 7 countries for several months.

Bahls is in Washington D.C. this week, meeting with members of Congress, and says he'll emphasize to them the importance of people born outside of the U.S. to the nation, to the college, and to the community.

He calls it "a fundamental part of the mission of Augustana College" to serve all members of the community, and to protect students and staff from all backgrounds.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
