Augustana Construction Update

Nine months after it began, construction on the new Center for Student Life at Augustana College is on schedule. Project manager Jay Wagner, from Russell Construction, says the project is 55 to 60 per cent complete, and will be finished by August, in time for the new school year.
He says re-modeling of the Tredway Library is nearly completed, but for the addition on the west side of the building, so far just the foundation is done, and much of the structural steel is up.

The Center for Student LIfe will include the library, dining rooms and food service, and student activities. Library director, Carla Tracy, says the library has been the central gathering place for students in recent years, and that's sure to continue when the addition and other work are completed. She says compact, movable shelves that hold twice as many books, will help make up for some library space that's been lost to the Center for Student Life. The Tredway Library at Augustana College opened in 1990.
