APAC expansion

A company in the Quad Cities wants to expand its workforce by nearly 50 per cent. APAC Customer Services in Davenport already employs 11-hundred people, and today it held a job fair to recruit 500 more.
Senior recruiter, Shannon Corley, says their goal is to fill the positions by the end of the year. It's partly due to a trend in the industry of bringing customer service phone centers, from overseas back to the US. And her company's clients are expanding, so more people are needed to answer their customer calls at APAC.
In addition to the job fair, APAC held a ribbon cutting with city officials to celebrate the "opening" of nearly 6,000 more square feet of space to accomodate the new workers. The call center first opened 16 years ago, in the former Caterpillar plant near the Davenport Airport.
Terra Barney, c-e-o of the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce, estimates the 500 new jobs will help create 140 so-called "in-direct" jobs in this area.
