Zach Wilson is the 2019 Amy Helpenstell Fellow. You can hear him most weekdays on WVIK during All Things Considered and occasionally filling in on Morning Edition.

Prior to joining WVIK, he graduated with a degree in Mass Media from Illinois State University. While at school, he worked as the Morning Edition Producer for WGLT, Bloomington-Normal's Public Media. He also served as News Director at ISU's college radio station, WZND, after spending time as it's Assistant Music Director. For his work at WZND, Zach is currently nominated nationally by College Broadcasters, Inc. for "Best Feature News Reporting" and by the Illinois Broadcasters Association for "Best Long-Form News Programming" and "Best Feature News Reporting." 

Zach is a native of Libertyville, IL, a northern suburb of Chicago. He is a Chicago Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks fan, and enjoys playing guitar in his spare time.

The Bennigan's at the Holiday Inn in downtown Rock Island is preparing to close. The Kinseth Hospitality Company has announced that the Irish-American restaurant will close on Sunday and be replaced by the Rock Island Ale House.

Birdies for Charity has raised its highest total ever. Thanks to last summer's John Deere Classic, $13.82 million will be distributed to over 540 local charities, beating last year's record by nearly $400,000.

Nearly 20 years after it closed, the old Shopko store on 36th Avenue in Moline will reopen as a storage facility. The company Storage of America plans to build 800 storage units of varying sizes just two months after opening a store in Rock Island. The units will be climate-controlled to prevent extreme temperatures from damaging the items in each unit.
