Dave Garner

Operations Manager, Host of Morning Classics

A native of Moline and a longtime resident of Rock Island, Dave earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Radio/Television from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He came to WVIK in January of 1987 as an engineering assistant, and has picked up necessary skills along the way.

As Operations Manager and Chief Operator, Dave keeps the technical side of the station running, maintaining WVIK's audio production studios and automation systems, and being on call for transmitter and studio technical issues. Dave oversaw a complete upgrade of the WVIK studios in 2014-15, installing networked audio consoles and related equipment, and remoting all studio automation and internet computers to WVIK's Tech Center.

As an audio engineer, Dave has been responsible for the production of RME Radio Hour, Art Talks with Bruce Carter, RiverWayStories, About Books, Quad City Oral Histories, and The Parent Trip, as well as broadcast concerts by the Quad City Symphony, Dubuque Symphony, Muscatine Symphony, Nova Singers, and the Handel Oratorio Society.

Dave hosted the classical music program “Sunday Morning” from April, 1989 until March, 2008, when he began hosting the weekday classical program "Morning Classics."
