The Greater Dubuque Development Corporation and IOWAWorks are holding a hiring fair on Thursday, September 5th, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Steeple Square, 101 E. 15th Street, Dubuque.
Nearly 50 regional employers are in attendance, representing manufacturing, financial and insurance services, warehouse logistics, administration, IT and more.
“Supporting our community through these challenging times is our top priority,” said Rick Dickinson, President & CEO at Greater Dubuque Development Corporation in a press release. “The goal of the AccessDubuqueJobs.com hiring fair is to connect displaced workers with new employment opportunities as quickly as possible, helping our friends and neighbors transition smoothly to their next opportunity in the Greater Dubuque region.”
Attendees will have access to organizations offering services and information for job seekers, including connecting with Northeast Iowa Community College for training and upskilling opportunities—Crescent Community Health Center for health insurance information and healthcare resources. Finally, various resources from IowaWORKS, including veterans' career planning and reemployment services, are available.
Greater Dubuque Development Corporation says the hiring fair is being held in part because of the John Deere and Duluth Trading layoffs in the area.
