Three Nominated for Rock Island County Board

Three vacancies on the Rock Island County board may soon be filled. Tuesday Board Chair Richard Brunk announced his choices for districts 3,10, and 23.

He's nominated Michael Burns of Silvis to represent District 3, following the death of board member Scott Noyd. Burns is a former police officer, and is retired from the Department of Corrections.

In District 10 in Moline, Porter McNeil would replace Pat O'Brien who resigned from the board. McNeil is a public affairs and communications consultant

And for District 23 formerly represented by Ken Maranda who resigned, Brunk has nominated Kristin Bogdonas - an educator with the University of Illinois Extension.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
