After two days and many hours of testimony, a state panel has once again NOT made a decision on a psychiatric hospital proposed for Bettendorf. Thursday the Iowa State Health Facilities Council voted 2 to 2 on the plan by Strategic Behavioral Health.
A spokesman for the council says that means the application is neither denied nor approved, and the Tennessee-based company can ask to have its application reviewed again.
The hearing began two weeks ago, and one of the five members was not present due to a death in the family. So the continuation of that hearing Thursday meant only four heard additional testimony and could vote.
Earlier this year there was a similar non-decision when there was a vacancy on the council, and it split 2 to 2.
