The state wants to help create more than 150 jobs in Clinton. Friday the Iowa Economic Development Authority Board approved awards for Nestle Purina PetCare and Timken Drives.
The board awarded tax benefits to Nestle which has made pet food in Clinton since 1969. The company is planning to invest 140 million dollars to buy new manufacting equipment and expand production. And that will create 73 jobs, with wages at more than 16 dollars ($16.63) per hour.
Direct financial assistance from the state of Iowa will help Timken Drives - it plans to re-locate production of auger assemblies now done in Fulton, to Clinton, upgrade the plant in Clinton, and create up to 84 jobs. Most of the new hires will earn more than 16 dollars ($16.63) per hour. Timken is expected to spend 1.4 million dollars on the project.
