Felden calls herself a "book nerd" and says books have always been a big part of her life.
"So I decided without a risk, if you don't try anything you're not going to succeed, that's just the way it goes. And so I decided it was time to put a few years into this effort and see if we can make a go of it."
The Artsy Bookworm also features works by local artists and books by local authors, plus toys, gifts, and yarn.
"I find that the combination of books, the arts, toys - a variety of things - brings people in. It give them more than one reason to walk into the store."
She also hopes to become a resource for local schools.
Even though there are very few independent bookstores open anymore, Felden calls herself a perpetual optimist - that the community will support her store and it'll be open for years to come.
