Students in Iowa are preparing to go back to school, which means it's also time for the state's annual sales tax holiday. Friday and Saturday, shoppers will not have to pay sales tax on clothing and shoes costing less than $100.

The sales tax exemption is timed to coincide with back to school shopping, but Victoria Daniels with the Iowa Department of Revenue says school supplies and backpacks don't qualify for the exemption.

Most of Iowa, including Scott County, has a 7 percent sales tax. Daniels says the Department of Revenue is anticipating $61.5 million in sales over the two-day period, with $3.7 million in sales tax getting waived.
