When voters go to the polls this spring in Rock Island County, they'll get another chance to help raise money for school repairs and construction. That's because school boards representing more than half of the students have formally requested another vote on a local option sales tax for schools.

Unless there are some last minute changes, voters in the Black Hawk College district will not have to make any difficult decisions in the spring election. Monday was the filing deadline for the board of trustees, and three people filed to run for 3 openings on the board.

The University of Illinois will get a grant to catalog a collection of rare Italian books it's had for more than nine decades.

U of I says its Rare Book & Manuscript Library will use the nearly half a million dollar grant to catalog more than 20,000 imprints from the 16th through 19th centuries.

Northern Illinois University and U of I are part of an interlibrary loan system, but NIU generally would not have access to U of I's rare books and vice-versa.
