Van Lancker says during his four terms as auditor he's focused on protecting the vote through improved administration of elections. And that the Iowa commissioner of elections should have real experience working elections at the local level.
As a member of the Iowa State Association of County Auditors, he's served as president, and also on the State Election Administration Training Curriculum Committee, including as chairman of the committee and a lead trainer.
Also campaigning for the Democratic nomination is Linn County Auditor Joel Miller. He and Van Lancker hope to defeat current Iowa Secretary of State, Republican Paul Pate.
