Tuesday Miles Brainard, the city's director of Community and Economic Development, released copies of the demolition permit and other documents.
They include a judge's order dissolving the temporary restraining order blocking demolition, a letter from the Illinois EPA saying that a required stormwater permit had been issued, and a letter from the state saying that a required historic building survey had been completed.
Brainard says the city took no position on whether the courthouse should be saved, and that it was obligated to issue the permit once Rock Island County had submitted all the required documents.
Demolition opponents plan a to protest at the site on Wednesday afternoon, calling the 125 year old courthouse an "irreplaceable landmark."
