Laura Klauer is a civil engineer and says the city wants to make this area safer because River Drive is a high traffic area.
"We have received requests in the past to install a traffic signal at the intersection of 12th Street and River Drive so that is one thing the study will look at. If a traffic signal is warranted at that intersection."
Klauer says their goal is to make River Drive as safe as possible.
"We want the traffic study to tell us what we should aim for. We want recommendations out of the study and depending on what those recommendations are we might budget for those items in the future."
The cost of the study will be $43,000 and split evenly between Moline and Metrolink. The city council has approved it and it will soon be considered by Metrolink's Board of Trustees.
