5th Annual Quad-Cities Success Fair Offers Employment Resources

A job fair on Tuesday offers to help veterans, transitioning soldiers, and other community members find jobs and polish their resumes.

The 5th annual Quad-Cities Success Fair will be held at the Rogalski Center in Davenport from 1 to 4 PM.

Martha Garcia-Tappa from IowaWORKS helps recruit businesses for the fair. She says it has grown from its roots as a veteran-only event.

"It's open to the community now because it has grown to be one of the largest job fairs in this area, and it's open to everyone at this time. But there are also specific employers that are looking for veterans as well, because they want to help them come back into the community."

The fair includes more than 80 employers from a broad range of industries, including companies like HNI, John Deere, Hy-Vee, and Mid-American Energy.

It also includes resume-building workshops and mock interviews.

"And we have programs targeted toward our veterans, to help place them in great jobs with skills they may have learned while being in the military. But I just want to remind folks that if there are needs out there for you to learn how to have your resume be a little more powerful for employers, we can help with that."

The Quad-Cities Success Fair is open to everyone at St. Ambrose University's Rogalski Center from 1 to 4 PM on Tuesday afternoon. More information and resources can also be found at IowaWORKS.gov.
