Linda Neuman receives Equity for Women Award

Retired Iowa Supreme Court Justice Linda Neuman will be honored for her service.
Tonight, the LeClaire resident will receive the first Equity for Women Award presented by a group called "50-50 in 2020." Neuman served 23 years in the Iowa judiciary and was the first woman appointed to the state supreme court.
Former Bettendorf state senator Maggie Tinsman of 50-50 in 2020 says, "This award recognizes a woman leader who has made a significant contribution to equity for women and has been a mentor and role model for others."
50-50 in 2020 was formed in 2010 and its goal is to reach at least 50% female membership in the Iowa House and Senate and the congressional delegation, and to elect the state's first female governor by 2020. Iowa and Mississippi are the only states that have never elected a woman governor nor sent a woman to congress.
Neuman currently is in private practice in LeClaire and is an adjunct professor in the University of Iowa College of Law.
