Wreaths Across America

December  14, 2012

A local company will help honor veterans this weekend. Tennant Truck Lines in Colona has partnered with Wreaths Across America to deliver thousands of evergreen wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery, the National Cemetery on Aresnal Island and other national cemeteries in Springfield Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, and Pennsylvania.

President and CEO, Aaron Tennant, says this is the third year his company has participated.

"I heard about it through an association I belong to, the Truckload Carriers Association. And I thought it was a really neat way to honor the fallen veterans. My grandfather who started the company was a marine, so it just seemed fitting that we should help support the program."

Tennant was chosen along with two employees to participate in the main event at Arlington Cemetery tomorrow.  This will be the first time he's had the opportunity to put wreaths on headstones.
He leaves tonight for the trip to the cemetery in Virginia, near Washington DC.

Wreaths Across American began in 1992 and this year thousands of volunteers will put wreaths on headstones at over 800 locations in all 50 states.
