Tucker Assumes Command

August  23, 2013

One of the commands on Arsenal Island has officially welcomed a new leader. This morning First Army held an Assumption of Command Ceremony for Lieutenant General Michael Tucker.

He was promoted to his current rank, and to command of First Army, at the Pentagon on August 2nd.

During his 34 year career in the Army, Tucker has held a variety of staff and command positions, including his most recent as assistant deputy chief of staff for Army Operations and Training.  He replaces acting commander Major General Kevin Wendel who's been in charge of First Army since March when Lieutenant General Mick Bednarek left to become chief of the Office of Security Cooperation in Baghdad.

First Army is responsible for mobilizing and training all National Guard and Army Reserve forces.
