Thanksgiving Meal in Milan

November  27, 2013

Instead of staying home and relaxing Thursday, a Milan man will continue a family tradition and cook a holiday meal for others. Sean Lee will serve his annual, free Thanksgiving dinner at the American Legion hall in Milan.

Lee says it all started about 13 years ago.

"This started a long time ago when my mom passed away. A whole bunch of people didn't have a place to go so I just started up then. Just for a handful of people , then it got bigger and bigger."

Last year, he served about 80 people.

Lee plans to cook 17 turkeys tomorrow - he bought some himself, and the rest were donated by friends, and Hy-Vee. Friends and Legion members help with the meal each year.  Serving will be from noon until 4 pm, at the Legion hall on West First Avenue in Milan (515 W lst Ave.).
