November 28, 2012A new executive director will take over at the Quad City Symphony Orchestra in January. Today, it announced the hiring of Benjamin Loeb who will take over for Jeff vom Saal who left in August after five years with the QCSO.
Seventy-five people applied for the job, and Loeb was selected from six finalists. Loeb has earned several degrees, including a Bachelors from Harvard, a Masters from the Curtis Institute of Music, a Doctorate in Accompanying from Julliard, and a Graduate Performance Diploma in Conducting from the Peabody Conservatory. He was also the founder, executive director, and music director of the El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestras.
McHard says that she feels Loeb will fit in well with the Quad City Symphony and that he is excited to settle down with his young family in the Quad Cities.
Currently he is on the faculty of the El Paso Conservatory of Music, and recently served as the Executive Director of Greater Bridgeport Symphony Orchestra.
