Deere Expands at U of Illinois
March 24, 2014
Deere and Company hopes more space will mean a better connection with the University of Illinois. When construction is finished, the John Deere Technology Innovation Center will double in size, in the Urbana-Champaign Research Park.
Company spokesman, Eric Hodson, says the center first opened in 2008, as a way for the company to have better access to students and academic experts in a wide range of fields.
"There are students, interns, and company employees there. It's a collaborative work environment where they'll focus on innovation in areas like information technology, user experience, advance algorithm science, mobile solutions - a lot of things like that."
Other fields include agronomy, statistics, industrial design, psychology, and library science.
Hodson estimates 15 to 25 students from the University of Illinois work at the center, each year.
