Andover Veterans Monument

February  25, 2014

Veterans of recent wars are invited to put their names on a new monument. It'll be dedicated in June in Andover, Illinois during a "Salute to Veterans."

Ron Peterson, chairman of the Andover Tourism Council, says the new monument will be placed in the village's Veterans Memorial Garden, next to monuments for nearly all of our previous wars, including the Civil War and even the War of 1812.

Interested veterans do not have to live in Andover, or even Henry County. Peterson says names of veterans from across the region, including the Quad Cities, have been put on the monuments already there. The cost is 75 dollars and the deadline is April lst.  It'll be dedicated on June 8th during Andover's annual "More Fun on 81" Festival.
