All Stars Camp
May 30, 2014
For the second year, children with special needs can participate in a football camp led by top coaches. Today the Havlife Foundation in Davenport announced plans for its 4th annual legends of Iowa Football Camp.
Spokeswoman Natalie Johansen Murray says 48 coaches, including several former players for the Iowa Hawkeyes, will lead the camp on June 14th. But the day before (6/13), the coaches will hold a football and cheerleading camp for kids with disabilities.
"It's a great way for the youth to be a part of activities that they traditionally might not have been able to participate in. It's a day specifically geared toward them - they have one-on-one mentors, we run them through drills, and they learn a dance."
Murray says the Foundation is planning for between 50 and 80 young people, ages 10 to 15, to participate in the All Star Camp, that'll be held at the Brady Street Stadium in Davenport. The Iowa Football Camp will be held the next day, also at the stadium.
