Rock Island-Native Chosen as Davenport Parks and Recreation Director

A native of the Quad Cities will be the new Director of Parks and Recreation for Davenport. The city has selected Rock Island-native Chad Dyson.

Since 2010, Dyson has worked for the Iowa City Parks and Recreation department, as Recreation Superintendent, and previously was the Superintendent of Recreation for the Chicago suburb of Westmont.

He has a total of 18 years of management experience in parks and recreation.

Dyson says his first priority is completing Miracle Field.

"It's designed to allow participants of various needs and disabilities to participate in sports, primarily baseball and softball. It's typically designed with a rubberized surface with little or no transition areas, so they can have access to the field. And it can be used by all users."

Dyson earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa, and his Master's from Aurora University.

Earlier this month, the city held an open house for the three finalists for Director of Parks and Recreation. Dyson will replace Scott Hock, who left after four years, to direct parks and recreation in Cedar Rapids.
