Rock Island Man Embarks On 'Great River Trail Trash Trek'

A Rock Island man will spend this week picking up trash along the Great River Trail. Wade Ellett will walk the 60 miles from Savanna to Rock Island during what he calls the "Great River Trail Trash Trek."

And you can follow along on his blog, Intrepid Daily. The trek began Monday in Savanna and wraps up Friday in Sunset Park in Rock Island.

Ellett will camp along the way and talk to people about what he's doing and why. He welcomes people to join him for any leg of the trip.

Ellett started the Intrepid Daily blog as a way to share his outdoor adventures around the Quad Cities and encourage other people to get outside.

Remember, you can join in too! Just follow me here on IG, post a photo of you picking up trash or a spot you've beautified, then tag me and use the hash tag #GRTTrashTrek so I can find your shot! This will enter you to win a $25 gift card for Cotopaxi, one of my favorite outfitters! I hope to see some great shots! #IntrepidDaily #Adventure #AdventureOn #Explore #ExploreMore #Exploration #StayAdventurous #theadventureproject #yearofadventure #greatrivertrail #hiking #hike #hiker #trail #trash #garbage #litter #conservation #environment #environmentalism #nature #cleanup #backpack #outside #savetheplanet #savetheworld #planetearth #outdooradventure #GIVEAWAY @cotopaxi A video posted by Wade (@intrepid_daily) on Jun 27, 2016 at 8:16am PDT
