More than 9,000 flags will be placed at the Rock Island Arsenal tomorrow morning, to represent the people who lost their lives in the September 11th terrorist attacks. Friday, Arsenal Island will hold two events to commemorate the 15th anniversary.

At 6:15 am, local residents will participate in the annual Memorial Walk. Each walker will carry a bundle of American flags, and place them in the field near the Twin Towers Memorial.

Then a Remembrance Ceremony will begin at 10:30 am. The ceremony will feature guest speaker Major General Edward Daly, commanding general of the US Army Sustainment Command. There will also be a wreath laying and the playing of "Taps."

The September 11th Remembrance Ceremony on Arsenal Island Friday is open to the public.
