Residents Help Decide New School Name

Legat Architects

Hamilton School in Moline is getting a complete makeover -- name change included. The Moline School District is asking local residents to complete a survey about a new name for the elementary school that's currently under construction.

A group of school officials and parents hopes a new name will unify the new student body. The suggestion list has five names -- each with a significant historic link to Moline. For example, Two Rivers Elementary School, because of the Mississippi and Rock Rivers, and Atkinson Elementary, for Charles Atkinson, who gave the city of Moline its name.

Residents can rank the names or submit new ideas.

The survey is available on the Moline school district's website through November 10th.

The committee will present the results to the Board of Education at a meeting in December.
