After a nationwide search, Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg has chosen a new president. Monday it announced the board of trustees has selected Seamus Reilly to be the 7th president.
Reilly is currently the Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Parkland College in Champaign, a job he's held since 2008. Prior to that he served as chair of the Fine and Applied Arts Department, and earlier as Director of Literature, Philosophy, and Religion.
A native of Ireland, Doctor Reilly earned his B.A. and M.A. at University College in Dublin, then received his Ph.D in English from the University of Illinois.
He will replace Dr. Lori Sundberg who will become president of Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.
Sandburg trustees plan to formally approve Reilly's selection on Wednesday (5/9).
