Registration Deadline for Illinois

Time is running short for Illinois residents who want to vote in the November election. Tuesday is the deadline to register to vote, or to update your registration if you've changed your address.

Henry County Clerk Barb Link says for anyone who misses the deadline, they can still register online, through the State Board of Elections for the next two weeks (deadline 10/22).

"My recommendation - do it in person and get it done by the 9th. That way, we're sure to have all of your information right in the system before election day."

To register, Link says bring a photo I-D.

People in Henry County seem to be very interested in the election - more than 100 people have voted early so far, and she's mailed more than 1,000 applications for absentee ballots.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
