QC Area Rivers Still Rising

National Weather Service
the Rock River at Joslin, Wednesday morning 2/21/18

Flooding continues as several rivers in this area continue to rise, and they're not expected to reach their highest levels until at least Thursday.

The National Weather Service says, after rising 4 feet from Monday to Tuesday, the Wapsipinicon River at DeWitt is now half a foot over flood stage. It should crest another foot higher Thursday morning.

Since Monday, the Rock River at Joslin has risen 4 feet, and today's level is 1 foot below flood stage. It's predicted to go up 4 more feet by Thursday.

And at Moline, the Rock is about half a foot below flood stage. It's expected to reach that level Wednesday, and go up nearly 3 more feet and crest on Friday morning.

Near Maquoketa, the Maquoketa river went up 16 feet from Monday to Tuesday, and after Tuesday's crest at 4 feet over flood stage, the level has already begin to fall.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
