Ostergren Considered for US Attorney

Alan Ostergren

A promotion may be in store for the Muscatine County Attorney. Tuesday Iowa's two US senators announced their recommended choices for two US Attorney openings in the state, and their list includes Alan Ostergren.

Ostergren has served as Muscatine County Attorney since 2011.

Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst submitted three names for the US Attorney for the southern district of Iowa - the district is based in Des Moines and includes the Iowa Quad Cities.  The other two recommended for the job are Marc Krickbaum of Des Moines and Matthew McDermott, from West Des Moines.

The president makes the final choice which must then be confirmed by the Senate.

Grassley and Ernst also recommended two people for the northern district which is based in Cedar Rapids - Peter Deegan and Patrick Reinert - both are from Cedar Rapids.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
