No More Left Turns

city of Moline

The flow of traffic through one of the Quad Cities' busiest intersections will change drastically tomorrow. On Friday, the Illinois Department of Transportation says left turns will no longer be allowed at the intersection of 38th Street and John Deere Road in Moline.

In addition, the traffic signals will be turned off and removed.
It's the end of the 16 million dollar project to build an overpass connecting 38th Street with Coaltown Road, and speed up traffic on John Deere Road.
Starting tomorrow, motorists will have to turn right, drive across the new overpass, and then connect with either Coaltown Road on the north side of the intersection, or with the access roads to the movie theater, restaurants, and other nearby businesses on the south side.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
