Niabi Zoo Says Goodbye to Molly

The Niabi Zoo has said goodbye to one of its family members.  On Monday, Molly, a 35-year-old Plains Zebra, was euthanized due to chronic joint and bone issues resulting from old age.

Zoo Director Lee Jackson says it was not an easy decision, but the staff and veterinary team had to consider her quality of life, and the fact that her condition would only get worse.

Molly was the 3rd oldest Plains Zebra in North America and considered the "matriarch" of the zebra herd at Niabi. Molly had been at the zoo since the age of one.
