The Moline school board has named the district's next superintendent. Monday night board members chose Rachel Savage, hwo will begin July 1, 2019.
Savage comes from the Waterloo School District, where she has served as the principal of a middle school for the past three years. She previously worked as a superintendent in northern Arizona, and began her 23-year career in education as a high school Spanish teacher in Dubuque.
Savage earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Loras College in Dubuque, and earlier this year earned a Doctor of Education degree from Grand Canyon University, based in Phoenix.
She will succeed current superintendent Lanty McGuire, who is set to retire in the summer after working for the school district for 26 years.
