One of the top administrators for the Milwaukee schools will be the next superintendent for the Rock Island School District. Friday the board of education announced the hiring of Doctor Reginald Lawrence - he will replace Mike Oberhaus who's retiring next summer.
Lawrence has worked for 28 years in the Milwaukee schools, starting as a teacher, then assistant principal and principal. And for the past 8 years, he's served as a regional superintendent in the city which has 35 schools and more than 14,000 students.
He's also taught at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and spent 18 years in the Army National Guard.
He'll begin his new job in Rock Island on July lst.
