New Senior Housing Planned for Moline

Russell Construction

Plans are in the works to build new housing for seniors in Moline. Tuesday night, Russell Construction presented plans for a project called The Point, to the city council.

Russell spokeswoman, Angela Bagby, says 135 units for assisted living, independent living, and memory care would be built on the former site of Lutheran Hospital - on the west side of 6th Street, between 5th and 11th avenues.

Phase one would cost about 25 million dollars, with additional units and offices possible in the future, depending on demand.

She says the 16-acre site, which is owned by the city, is centrally located for shopping and medical offices, plus it offers great views from the bluff.
Construction could begin within a year to year and-a-half.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
