New President for Family Resources

Family Resources

A new leader will take charge of Family Resources next month. Monday, the Davenport-based agency that helps children, families, and other individuals, announced Jeannette Archer-Simons will be its next president.

Archer-Simons is a native of Davenport, but comes to Family Resources from Connecticut where she spent the last five years leading a non-profit called Open Door Shelter - an agency that provides homeless and housing services.

The chair of the Family Resources board, Rob Woodall, says Archer-Simons has what he calls a "proven track record of community collaboration, and passion for serving the community."

She replaces Mary Macumber Schmidt who served as president for 3 1/2 years, and left Family Resources in November to work for the Trinity Health Foundation.

Officially Archer-Simons will start her new job on March 18th.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
