An important part of the re-development of downtown Davenport has a new owner. Last week, Hawkeye Hotels announced the purchase of the Radisson Quad City Plaza.
Hawkeye development manager, Samir Patel, says the company plans to completely renovate the 20 year old hotel.
"Any time we have the opportunity to invest in a hotel in our home state, we see it as a win-win, both for our company and for the state. We believe that we can renovate this property and bring it back to the glory it once had and we can help Davenport grow as well."
The renovation will take up to nine months and the hotel will stay open during all the work. Patel says his company hopes to keep the Radisson brand, but is talking with a couple of others, just in case.
Hawkeye Hotels was founded in 1982, and now has 60 properties in 17 states, including 15 in Iowa. Its local properties include Hampton Inns, in Clinton and Muscatine, and a Motel 6 at the Quad City Airport in Moline.
