New Housing for College Students

WVIK Staff

New housing is available for college students in the Quad Cities, but it's privately owned and not affiliated with any institution. Wednesday afternoon in Moline, local officials joined with the developer, 3 Corners Development from Orland Park, Illinois, to hold a ribbon cutting for The Mills at Riverbend Commons.

Located along River Drive, near the Western Illinois University campus, it features offices and retail space on the ground floor, and 90 apartments for up to 240 students on the upper floors.
The apartments are for students at any college in the area, not just WIU.
The manager is a company based in Madison, B-M-O-C Incorporated, which manages student housing across the country.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
