The man who will lead the Davenport School District says his experience will help him steer the district in the right direction.

Last week, the board of education hired Bob Kobylski who'll start his new job in the summer.

He's currently the superintendent of both Nicolet High School in Glendale, Wisconsin and its feeder district, Fox Point Bayside Grade School.

Kobylski says the superintendent position in the Davenport School District is the only one he applied for. And he's eager to help solve some of the same problems his districts faced in Wisconsin.

He also calls himself an advocate for public education who's willing to work to help change Iowa's funding formula, if necessary.

Kobylski was one of three finalists selected after a nationwide search and will replace Art Tate, who resigned last fall. T.J. Schneckloth is currently the district's interim superintendent.

Kobylski will begin his new job in Davenport on June 1st.
