New Athletic Complex in Davenport

Saint Ambrose University

Homecoming weekend will be more than just football and alumni parties for Saint Ambrose University and Assumption High School in Davenport. Friday night they'll celebrate the completion of phase 1 of their new athletic complex.

The university's vice president for finance, Mike Poster, says both have added sports in recent years and needed more fields.
Six million dollars has been spent so far to complete two fields for either football, soccer, or lacrosse, a softball diamond, concession building, and a parking lot.

Construction began in the spring of last year, and was completed last May. Phase 2 will include another athletic field and an outdoor track, but no starting date has been announced.

The dedication begins at 6:15 pm at the new athletic complex, along West Central Park Avenue in Davenport.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
