Near Normal Weather in July

Temperatures and precipitation were about normal in the Quad Cities and Dubuque last month. The National Weather Service says the average temperature in Moline was 75 degrees - about half a degree below normal - while Dubuque averaged 71 1/2 degrees - also about half a degree below normal.

About 4.9 inches of rain fell officially in Moline in July which is half an inch above normal for the month. 3 1/2 inches was recorded in Dubuque - about 3-quarters of an inch below normal.

But the National Weather Service, which also keeps separate statistics for Davenport, says rainfall recorded in Davenport totaled just 1.3 inches - nearly 3 inches below normal for July.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
